Matthew Galkin founded Fairhaven in January of 2018 and quickly went into production on the five-part Showtime documentary series MURDER IN THE BAYOU, based on the NY Times best-selling book. The show, Showtime’s first-ever true crime documentary series, premiered in 2019 to great acclaim. Recent TV work includes the three-part Showtime documentary series MURDER IN BIG HORN which had it’s World Premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and will air on Showtime in early February 2023; and EMPIRES OF NEW YORK, a six-part limited series for CNBC about New York City’s financial and cultural resurrection in the 1980’s which aired in November 2020.

Galkin has directed three documentary films – HBO’s KEVORKIAN, a multi-faceted biography of famed assisted-suicide activist Jack Kevorkian; the award-winning HBO documentary I AM AN ANIMAL: THE STORY OF INGRID NEWKIRK AND PETA, about the controversial animal rights group and it’s enigmatic founder; and loudQUIETloud: A FILM ABOUT THE PIXIES, an immersive verite film chronicling the 2004 reunion tour of the seminal rock band.

Prior to starting Fairhaven, Galkin was a partner at New York-based production company Warrior Poets, where his work included the award-winning CNN series INSIDE MAN (Executive Producer/Showrunner), which won the 2013 IDA Award for Best Limited Series; SUPER SIZE ME 2: HOLY CHICKEN! (Producer); ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US (Executive Producer), the ESPN Films 30 for 30 documentary THE DOTTED LINE (Producer and Writer); and COMIC-CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE (Producer).

Galkin’s other work includes the documentary anthology series CULTURESHOCK for A&E (Executive Producer); FAMILY BONDS for HBO (Producer); KIMORA: LIFE IN THE FAB LANE FOR E! (Co-Executive Producer); BOOMTOWN for Planet Green (Co-Executive Producer) which won the 2011 IDA Award for Best Limited Series; the award-winning web series A DAY IN THE LIFE for Hulu (Director/Co-EP); and the twice Webby-nominated series FAILURE CLUB for Yahoo! (Director).
